For the most part, my work is about what the Watchtower has gotten wrong. Aside from organizational misdeeds, most, but not all, errors stem from their attachment to 1914. But besides the basic doctrine, the Watchtower has many things right. You can appreciate that if you ever consider what some Evangelicals teach regarding prophecy.

For example, the so-called rapture. Millions of people have been deluded into imagining that when Christ returns, people are suddenly going to disappear—being raptured in the flesh into heaven. This nonsense really came to the fore because of the hugely popular Left Behind fictional series. The reason so many believe the rapture hoax is because they have been deceived regarding God’s purpose to preserve a great crowd of people through the end of this wicked world. In actuality, being left behind when God’s angels remove the wicked will be a blessing.

Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were, and they will not be there. But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

Psalm 37:10-11

Although Jehovah’s Witnesses do not fully appreciate the truth yet, the Bible explains that the chosen will all be killed during the time of the end. At the time of their deaths, they will be changed in the twinkling of an eye into immortal spirits. They will most certainly leave behind a lifeless corpse of flesh. Those who are in union with Jesus must die a death like Jesus, meaning they must leave behind their mortal flesh and be changed. Of course, unfortunately, Jehovah’s Witnesses believe the fiction that the first resurrection has already begun.

Another very important doctrine is the identity of the Israel of God, as Paul referred to the Christian congregation. Because the Watchtower teaches what should be plainly evident and is well-supported by scripture, namely that anointed Christians have replaced fleshly Israel as God’s covenanted nation, Evangelicals speak of the falsity of “replacement theology.” At least they are consistent — always wrong about everything.

It is no secret that the British Empire concocted Zionism in the 1800s and, during the 20th century, established the modern state of Israel. True, C.T. Russell bought into the Zionist claptrap, but it was discarded by his successor, Joseph Rutherford. But to this day, Evangelicals believe the myth that the existence of the state of Israel is the fulfillment of Bible prophecy. Because they imagine the state of Israel is God’s nation, they have come to the erroneous conclusion that Gog represents Russia and that it is going to attack Israel. Crazy stuff. It is quite possible that Israel will be destroyed in war, which would demolish the Zionists’ fairy tale.
